Besiktas have unveiled Nigeria's Super Eagless midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi after passing medicals, confirming they have entered formal negotiations with Leicester City over a potential move for the Super Eagles star.
In a disclosure filed to the Public Disclosure Platform on Thursday, the club announced that discussions had commenced with both the player and his club regarding a potential transfer to the Turkish Super Lig giants.
“Negotiations have started with professional footballer Wilfred Onyinye Ndidi and his club Leicester City Football Club Limited regarding his transfer,” the statement read.
Ndidi, 27, has been a mainstay at Leicester City since joining from Genk in 2017 and played a key role in the Foxes’ Premier League campaign last season.
With one year left on his contract, his future at the King Power Stadium has remained uncertain, attracting interest from multiple clubs across Europe.
The imminent Besiktas move to acquire Ndidi is reportedly part of a wider strategy to bolster their midfield ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. The club have already made several additions in the current transfer window and view the Super Eagles midfielder as a vital piece in their squad rebuild.
As part of the transfer process, Ndidi underwent a comprehensive medical assessment in Istanbul earlier on Thursday.
“Wilfred Onyinye Ndidi undergoes medical examination. Professional footballer Wilfred Onyinye Ndidi, with whom we have begun transfer negotiations, underwent a medical examination this morning at Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital,” the club said.
“Ndidi underwent comprehensive blood tests and was examined in the orthopaedics, internal medicine, ophthalmology, ear-nose-throat (ENT), general surgery, and cardiology departments. His medical checks were completed with lung and endurance tests.”
It was confirmed in reports that the total agreement has been reached between both clubs and the player for a €9.5m fee.
