Inter Miami have completed the signing of Brazilian midfielder, Carlos Casimiro, on a free transfer following his departure from Manchester United
The Major League Soccer club announced on its website on Wednesday that the former Real Madrid star has signed a contract until the end of the 2027 MLS Sprint Season, with an option to extend the deal until June 2029. His registration remains subject to the receipt of a P-1 visa.
Casemiro said Inter Miami’s ambition convinced him to make the move to South Florida. “What motivates me the most, and I think this is true for every player, is winning and continuing to grow. The project the Club presented to me, along with the effort everyone made to bring me here, means a lot to me.
“I’m incredibly grateful, and I can’t wait to get started so I can repay that trust—not only during the 90 minutes on matchday, but every day in training as well. All I can say is thank you, and I’ll give everything I have to return the affection and confidence the Club has shown me,” he said.
Inter Miami Managing Owner Jorge Mas described the signing as a reflection of the club’s ambition.
“Casemiro’s arrival reflects the vision and ambition that define Inter Miami. We never settle. We’re always looking to grow, improve, and raise our standards every season. Casemiro embodies everything this club stands for: leadership, a winning mentality, and an extraordinary track record at the highest level of the game.
“After achieving virtually everything there is to achieve in football, his decision to join Inter Miami shows that he shares our ambition and our commitment to the highest standards as we continue building for the future.”
Club co-owner David Beckham also welcomed the Brazilian. “I’m very proud to welcome Casemiro and his family to Inter Miami. He is a person and a player that I have admired for a long time. He is a winner who has achieved so much in the game and after such an incredible career with Real Madrid and Manchester United, I’m delighted that he’s decided to make Miami his next home,” Beckham said.
The 34-year-old joins Inter Miami after three seasons at Manchester United, where he won the English League Cup and the FA Cup. Before moving to England in 2022, Casemiro enjoyed a trophy-laden eight-year spell at Real Madrid, winning five UEFA Champions League titles, three La Liga crowns, three FIFA Club World Cups, three UEFA Super Cups, one Copa del Rey and three Spanish Super Cups.
Across his Real Madrid career, he made 336 appearances, scoring 31 goals and providing 29 assists. Casemiro has also earned 91 caps for Brazil, winning the 2019 Copa América and representing the country at the 2018, 2022 and 2026 FIFA World Cups.
At the 2026 World Cup, he started all five of Brazil’s matches, scoring once in the Round of 32 and providing an assist in the Round of 16. The move sees Casemiro become the latest high-profile addition to Inter Miami as the MLS side continues to strengthen its squad.
