Marcelo announces his retirement from football

Regarded as arguably the best left-back in the world, Marcelo played the position like none before him had ever done, and he will be remembered for his impact on the game, especially with Real Madrid.

Brazilian star Marcelo announced his formal retirement from football, to conclude an exceptional career that lasted for more than 16 years in the stadiums, which saw his achievement for historical titles that made him one of the greatest players in the history of the game.

Marcelo, through his account on the X handle, posted a video clip in which he announced his retirement from football, and commented: "Forever forever."

Marcelo is a graduate of the Fluminisi Academy, and moved to Real Madrid in 2006, before leaving the team and joining Olympiacos in 2022, after which he returned to Fluminisi in 2023.

With Real Madrid, Marcelo played 564 games, scored 38 goals, provided 103 assists, and won 25 trophies, including 5 UEFA Champions League titles, while with Fluminnessi, he played 107 games, scored 11 goals, gave 3 assists, played with Olympiacos 10 games and scored 3 goals.

On the international level, Marcelo wore the Brazilian national team's shirt in many major championships, and he won the 2013 Confederations Cup, as well as the silver medal in the 2012 Olympics.
