Boxing Legend Foreman Is Dead

Japan became the first team to qualify for the 2026 World Cup after second-half goals from Daichi Kamada and Takefusa Kubo gave them a 2-0 win over Bahrain on Thursday.

Boxing legend George Foreman has passed away at the age of 76, his family announced on Instagram.

Known as “Big George,” Foreman had a remarkable career, winning Olympic gold in 1968 and claiming the world heavyweight title twice, 21 years apart.

Foreman’s family remembered him as “a devout preacher, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grand and great grandfather” who lived a life marked by “unwavering faith, humility, and purpose.”

They added that he was “deeply respected – a force for good, a man of discipline, conviction, and a protector of his legacy.”

Foreman’s boxing career boasted an impressive 76 total wins and 68 knockouts.

He lost only five bouts, including his famous 1974 fight against Muhammad Ali, known as the “Rumble in the Jungle.”

Foreman reflected on the fight 50 years later, saying that everyone thought he was going to “decimate” Ali, but the older man used the “rope-a-dope” tactic to wear him out.

After retiring from boxing, Foreman became an ordained minister and founded the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Texas.

He also became a successful entrepreneur, pitching his George Foreman Grill, which became a best-seller.
