Just in: Liverpool signs Trent’s replacement

Liverpool have reached an agreement to sign Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong, as per Fabrizio Romano.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold leaving the club at the end of his current contract, the Reds needed to bring in a new right-back in the summer transfer window. Conor Bradley is another option for Liverpool at right-back, but he's still a young defender learning his trade.

Alexander-Arnold looks set to join Real Madrid after the end of his Liverpool contract, with reports confirming that he is set to join the La Liga giants on a six-year deal. It's a crucial blow for Liverpool, and replacing him adequately will be incredibly important.

According to Romano, reporting on X, Frimpong is now set to join Liverpool after triggering his release clause, with an agreement now complete. Frimpong will sign a five-year deal at Anfield, with his medical scheduled...

It was confirmed earlier this week that Liverpool were planning on triggering Frimpong's release clause, which is around £30m. A medical is being scheduled, and interestingly, Frimpong was an unused substitute for Leverkusen on Sunday, with Xabi Alonso not giving him a minute in their final game for the club.
