PSG win 13th league title

Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday won their 13th Ligue 1 title following a 1-0 win over Angers with six more games left to play.

Also, manager Luis Enrique is eyeing an unbeaten Ligue 1 season after clinching the title.

He says PSG are “motivated to try and finish the season unbeaten” after clinching a fourth straight Ligue 1 title on Saturday.

Desire Doue scored the decisive goal for Paris Saint-Germain, who are still in the race to clinch the Champions League this season.

PSG’s triumph is made all the more remarkable by the fact that only one team have won the title earlier in the season.

The Paris club won the 2016 season with eight games to spare.

However, despite their repeated dominance in French football, PSG have never completed an unbeaten season.

That could happen in 2024-25, however, and they would also become the first French team to do it.

In Europe, only six teams have gone unbeaten throughout Europe’s top five leagues: Bayer Leverkusen, Juventus, Arsenal, AC Milan, Perugia, and Preston North End.

With Ligue 1 in the bag, PSG can now focus on the Champions League as the 13-time league winner host Aston Villa on Wednesday in France.

PSG do not have a league game next weekend, but must navigate fixtures against Le Havre, Nantes, Nice, Strasbourg, Montpellier, and Auxerre if they are to complete their unbeaten run.
