Arsenal vs PSV Predictions

Arsenal are ahead with a dominating advantage in their hands. Mikel Arteta’s men are the favourites to take down PSV in the UCL round of 16 second leg.

Match info: UEFA Champions League

Venue: Emirates Stadium, London

Date: Wednesday, 12th March 2025

Time: 9 pm Nigerian time

Barring one of the most extraordinary comebacks in football history let alone the Champions League, Arsenal will be celebrating progression to the quarter-finals after Wednesday's last-16 second leg at home to PSV Eindhoven.

Records were sent tumbling in the Gunners' 7-1 annihilation of Peter Bosz's side in the first leg, but Mikel Arteta's returned to their toothless ways in the Premier League over the weekend.

Head-to-head:

  • Arsenal have won 4 of the 9 UEFA Champions League meetings between the two teams.
  • PSV recorded just 1 victories.
  • The remaining 4 clashes ended in draws.
  • Arsenal are undefeated in their five home matches in European competitions against PSV.
  • The Gunners have only lost one of their last 15 games against Dutch sides in the UEFA Champions League.
  • The Gunners have kept 5 clean sheets against PSV in all competitions.
  • PSV are winless in their last six away major European competition games in England.
  • Arsenal have won each of their four UCL home games this season.
  • The Gunners are on a five-match winning streak in the UEFA Champions League.

Form:

  • Arsenal in the Champions League: W-W-W-W-W
  • Arsenal in all competitions: W-L-D-W-D
  • PSV in the Champions League: W-W-L-W-L
  • PSV in all competitions: W-L-L-L-W

Team News:

  • Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, and Takehiro Tomiyasu have injuries and will not be a part of Arsenal’s squad. Bukayo Saka is back in training but is set to return to the squad in a few weeks.
  • PSV will be without the services of Malik Tillman, Esmir Bajraktarevic, and Ricardo Pepi as they are injured.

Player(s) to watch:

  • Mikel Merino, who is playing as a striker in the absence of Kai Havertz, scored one of the goals in the first leg and helped Arsenal secure a dominating win. It was Mikel Merino’s first UCL goal of the season. The player will be bent on adding a goal or two to his tally here. He has been a good option but still needs to work it up a bit to drop a good performance.
  • Ismael Saibari might emerge as a game-changer for the Dutch side PSV. Although it is highly unlikely for the visitors to make a comeback, the Moroccan midfielder will be looking to step up for his side and get some goals. Saibari will be controlling the midfield areas well and might be one of the major contributors to the attacking front for his side.
