Ronaldo gives man of the match award to Al Nassr teammate

Cristiano Ronaldo handed his man of the match trophy to teammate Abdullah Al-Hamdan after Al-Nassr defeated Al-Faisaly 3-1 in the Saudi Pro League on Friday

As reported by Sabah Spor, a Turkish sports news outlet on Friday, Ronaldo was named man of the match following his performance in the encounter but chose to give the award to Al-Hamdan in recognition of his contribution to the victory.

The match, played at Al-Majma’ah Sports City Stadium, saw Al-Nassr take an early lead through Al-Hamdan, who opened the scoring in the fourth minute.

Ronaldo doubled the advantage in the 49th minute, rising to head home a free-kick delivery from João Félix. The goal was reported to be the 982nd of his career. Al-Hamdan later turned provider, setting up Ângelo to score Al-Nassr’s third goal in the 79th minute and help seal the victory.

Despite receiving the official man-of-the-match award, Ronaldo called Al-Hamdan over at full-time and handed him the trophy before posing for photographs with his teammate. The gesture attracted attention from supporters, with many praising the Portuguese captain for recognising Al-Hamdan’s contribution of a goal and an assist.

The victory moved Al-Nassr temporarily to the top of the Saudi Pro League table with 25 points, strengthening their position in the title race.

Ronaldo’s performance further added to his career goal tally as Al-Nassr continued their campaign with another important league victory.
