La Liga champions, Barcelona have set a record in the league, becoming the first ever team to win all 19 home matches in the Spanish league, after their 3-1 victory over Real Betis on Saturday evening.

The Scottish league took a dramatic end, after Celtic won the title on final day. Hearts FC were hoping to end their 60-year wait for the title, and needed to avoid a defeat against Celtic, but despite conceding first, Celtic still came back to win the game, securing another league title.

Chelsea appoint Alonso

Chelsea Football Club has appointed former Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso as manager of its men’s team. The Spaniard will take charge at Stamford Bridge on July 1, 2026, on a four-year contract. Alonso, who guided Leverkusen to the first Bundesliga title in the German club’s history, arrives at Chelsea as one of the most decorated coaches in European football. The club, in a statement released on Sunday said his appointment reflected its confidence in his coaching quality, game model, leadership attributes and integrity.

Bruno joins de Bruyne and Henry

Bruno Fernandes equalled the Premier League record of 20 assists in a season as Manchester United secured third place with a 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest. Fernandes, who was recently crowned the football writers’ player of the season, moved alongside Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne when his cross was turned in by Bryan Mbeumo for United’s third goal.

NBA Playoffs Conference final battle is ready

One more hurdle for teams remaining in the NBA playoffs, as the conference final stage is set. Cleveland Cavaliers defeated Detroit Pistons 4-3, to set up a Eastern Conference final against New Yordk Knicks, while San Antonio Spurs, who beat Minnesota Timberwolves, will face Oklahoma City Thunder.

Jannik Sinner defeated Casper Ruud in straight sets, as the game ended 6-4 6-4 in favour of the home boys. In the women’s event, Elina Svitolina won against third seed Coco Gauff 6-4 6-7 6-2 to list the Italian Open.

And surely the first major champion who wears two gloves while he is playing - a continuation of how he learned the game as a child.

Female survivor given 1% chance to live wins golf title

Leonie Harm was given less than a 1% chance of survival when she was hit by a car in 2013. Thirteen years later and the German has won her maiden Ladies European Tour title with a one-shot victory at the German Masters. It caps a remarkable back story for the 28-year-old. Harm had been out jogging when she was hit by a car travelling 70km/h (44mph). It was the paramedics at the scene who gave given her a very slim chance of surviving. She was put in a coma but despite severe brain injuries and multiple bone fractures she returned to the golf course just seven weeks later. A year later and she won the National Women's Amateur title, going on to win several amateur titles before she moved to the US to study biochemical and biophysical Sciences at the University of Houston.
